Those who are ok with the online experience and that level of stupid hard (which is NOT the same as realistic btw!!) can go play that way and please refrain from being smart arses to the rest of us. People who say to just harden up need to pull their damned heads in! - the complaints about uber bot behaviour are valid - ESPECIALLY in context to the kinds of people playing SP Tarkov and their reasons for that. If only there was a good mod to keep the new aggressive and smart AI behavior without the insane aiming/reaction time combined with the zero recoil full auto spraying from unreasonable distance but I'll take "a bit too easy" over playing against cheating aimbots. Makes the AI every bit as dumb as it was in 12.11 for me. Read the comment thread on the mod, there's a way to check the server reading to verify that the mod is installed and working correctly, and make sure you're using latest versions of everything. That should be redundant though because even the normal/hard setting on 12.11 was a lot easier than "easy" on 12.12. I think the difficulty settings you select when setting up a raid only control the ratio of easy-hard bots, not a universal setting. And as another redundancy I'm using Chomp-EasyPMCs mod (forces all pmcs to use 'easy' settings). Using new 2.2.1 update and latest backto12.11 version definitely works for me. It doesn’t have much support but if you have questions about a specific mod they may be able to help you. This is all probably pretty overwhelming for someone just jumping in but if you have any questions just ask. Save the file but make sure you make a back up of said file before making any changes in case you fuck something up. You’ll have to go into the file, find the line for “CAN_SHOOT_TO_HEAD”, and set it to false. You can do this in the game files under akidata/server/database/bots/core (I’m not at my computer right now so that could be very wrong, I’ll check later and make an edit if so). Setting it to pleb difficulty will keep the ai challenging and will force you to take cover but they won’t overwhelm you.Īnother tip is to disable the a.i ability to shoot for the head. It’s a little tricky to install and requires prerequisite mods but as long as you read the instructions you should get the hang of it. Ziccoman’s configurator is another mod that changes the a.i. Just to add there is a mod to revert the a.i Back to how it was before it got a buff however, it didn’t work for me so you may have problems with it as well. I personally like the default AI and the spawning the way it is, but I use Fin's to manipulate AI gear and the number of bots spawning.Įverything that u/vegainthemirror said is absolutely correct. Once you get a better grasp of the game, you can consider using AI mods like Fin's AI or Lua spawn (or whatever it's called, I don't use that one) to make it more challenging. The bots will move a bit, and some spawn areas aren't marked, but it helps to understand the map. If you have a second monitor, keep the map open while you play, to see in which areas you can expect AI most likely (if not, print it out or have a tablet eith map open next to you). These maps usually say where Scavs spawn. So, my suggestion to you: look at the annotated EFT maps on the official(?) wiki. Once you get to know the maps a bit better, you'll know where to expect Scavs and PMCs, and especially without a mod that adjusts bot spawning, they will spawn mainly (or exclusively) in areas where Scavs normally spawn in live Tarkov. So, it's understandable that you're surprised. Lately, AI reaction times seem to have been shorter and aim better. There's a lot of randomization going on, so that you can get Tarkov'ed by a buckshot from 100m away without any warning or have 5 seconds to carefully aim amd target or have a scav missing you from 5 metres away. Technically, AI always knows where you are, but a bot has an awareness area that will make it target you once you enter, but they also have a delay, how fast they staet shooting. Also, the AI got a major update with 12.12 (and SPT 2.2.x as well), making the bots more agressive and harder. Of course, AI doesn't do the same as real players, but them being able to see through walls and whatever else they do, sort of recreates actual player behavior. Tarkov is all about knowing your angles, being aware of hiding and sniper spots, and generally being very conscious about your surroundings. Since you haven't played live Tarkov, assuming from your post, you don'r know tjat this is veeeeeery normal.
